Summer Aromatic Reading

I recently learned of an interesting practice called "aromatic reading." What is it? It is when emotions, feelings and thoughts are triggered by a book that translates to associations, memories, and visualizations influenced by aroma. Through this experience the integration of aromas into the activity of reading creates a vivid and rich experience where the book comes to life and the reader becomes one with it.

The sense of smell creates a more concentrated experience of whatever book you are reading and more retainable. Another words the quality of the absorption of what is experience is easily recalled for a longer period of time.

I am trying this by creating a couple of essential oil diffuser blends and assigning each blend to separate books that I am reading this summer. As time passes, I want to be able to associate the same aroma and with the book I assigned to it.

As part of your summer book reading consider assigning a specific essential oil experience with a book. If the book is earthy, organic, perhaps select an oil that resonates with that. If the book is romantic, consider some floral oils. If the book is an exotic thriller, try an aromatic oil that has an exotic smell.

Here are a few summertime diffuser blends you may want to try:

  • Peppermint, Wild Orange, and Lime.

  • Lemongrass, thyme, eucalyptus, and basil (a very herbal blend).

  • Lavender, Geranium and Roman Chamomile.

As always I am available to guide you through creating and selecting DoTerra oils for your home and emotional health. Feel free to meet with me 1:1 here or attend my next Free Essential Oils Online class here.

I cannot wait to hear about your aromatic reading experience.
